Whether you're looking for knitting patterns, yarn, or just a bit of guidance before you order, we've answered some of the most common questions below.
🧵 Knitting Patterns
Are your knitting patterns digital or printed?
All of our knitting patterns are genuine printed leaflets – not digital downloads. They are professionally printed and delivered to your door.
Why buy printed knitting patterns instead of digital?
Printed knitting patterns are often easier and more enjoyable to use, especially for larger projects. You don’t need to scroll, zoom, or worry about screens going to sleep — everything is clearly laid out on the page.
They’re also more convenient for many people, as not everyone has access to a printer at home. Printing digital patterns can be time-consuming, use a lot of ink, and sometimes affect the layout or readability.
Many knitters prefer having a physical leaflet they can refer back to, make notes on, and keep with their yarn. It’s a more hands-on experience that feels part of the craft.
All of our patterns are brand new, professionally printed leaflets from trusted brands, so you get a high-quality finish that’s designed to be used again and again.
What do you mean by “genuine” knitting patterns?
We only sell brand new, authentic knitting patterns from trusted brands like King Cole and James C Brett. These are original published leaflets — not photocopies, scans, or reproductions.
How are the patterns delivered?
Your pattern will be sent as a full-size leaflet (not folded excessively). We carefully package them to ensure they arrive in excellent condition.
Orders are dispatched quickly and delivered via Royal Mail, with most patterns sent as Large Letters so they fit through a standard letterbox.
Do your knitting patterns include multiple sizes?
Yes, most patterns include a range of sizes. We clearly list chest measurements and sizing details on each product page to help you choose the right one.
Are your patterns suitable for beginners?
Many patterns are beginner-friendly. Look for terms like “easy” in the product title or description.
How do I choose the right size?
We always recommend checking the finished measurements or chest sizes shown on the pattern, rather than choosing by age alone. This is especially helpful for children’s patterns, as fit can vary.
Where possible, we include the size details in the product description. If they are not shown there, you can usually find them by clicking through the product images and viewing the materials required page.
Do I need to buy the yarn separately?
Yes, yarn is sold separately. We usually link directly to the recommended yarn on each product page to make things easy.
🧶 Yarn & Materials
How do I know how much yarn I need?
Each pattern includes a materials list with the number of balls required for each size.
Can I use a different yarn?
Yes, as long as it is a similar yarn weight (for example DK or Chunky), but you should also check the yardage and ball size. Yarns can vary quite a bit, even within the same weight category, so the number of balls needed may be different from the pattern requirements.
We always recommend checking the tension and comparing the meterage before starting.
Do you sell the yarn used in the patterns?
We stock a good range of knitting yarns and often have the yarn used in the pattern, or a suitable matching option. As a small family-run business, we do not keep every yarn for every pattern, but we do have a fair amount available and link to matching yarn wherever possible.
What size buttons do I need for a knitting pattern?
Button sizes can vary depending on the pattern, garment size, and your individual tension, so it’s not always possible to give an exact size.
The best way to choose the right size is to measure the buttonhole. The length of the buttonhole should match the diameter (widest part) of the button.
If the pattern recommends a button size, this can be used as a guide, but checking your finished buttonhole will give the most accurate fit.
📦 Delivery & Orders
How long does delivery take?
We aim to dispatch within 1 working day. Delivery time depends on your chosen shipping option.
Once dispatched, standard delivery usually arrives within 3-5 working days, although delivery times can occasionally vary.
How do I track my order?
All orders are sent via Royal Mail Tracked delivery. Once your order has been posted, your order status will change to fulfilled.
You should receive an email with your Royal Mail tracking number, and Royal Mail will often also send a text message or email with your expected delivery date.
How much is delivery?
Delivery costs are calculated at checkout based on the items in your basket. We aim to keep shipping as affordable as possible.
Will it fit through my letterbox?
Most patterns are sent as Large Letters and should fit through a standard letterbox. Larger orders and yarn orders will be sent as parcels.
